Part of speech Noun phrase
Definition A reduction or a complete absence in the perception of sensorial stimuli.
Definition source Vista-mead 2001
Context In fact, they pointed out that Jay Rosenbek, one of the most influential clinicians and researchers of the Mayo tradition, "revised the concept of apraxia of speech to include sensory-perceptual influences rather than the traditional view of it as strictly a motor, or output, speech disorder" (pp. 191-192). The various peripheral oral sensation studies in limb-kinetic apraxias of speech have shown sensory deficits. These deficits could presumably occur from lesions that extend to the lower postrolandic region, and therefore what Rosenbek discovered was that Luria´s "afferent apraxia" could be an added component to limb-kinetic apraxia.
