Context Oral reading (and writing from dictation) of isolated words was characterized by a deep pattern of performance. Of a total of 250 stimuli 169 were read correctly (67,6%): concrete words were read better than abstract words (100% vs. 75%), and nouns were read better than verbs (55%) and better than function words (45%). Oral reading of letter names was 50% correct and the reading of nonwords was 33%. Reading errors were visual (10/47), phonological (9), derivational (8), semantic (5), function words substitutions (5) and one content word substitution.
