On this test, significant deficits among the group of chronic-brain-injured children were reported, although, due to the diffuse nature of brain involvement for most of the subjects, no attempt was made to relate findings to laterality of brain involvement. In summary, based upon studies predominantly assessing single-word comprehension, at least mild lexical deficits have been noted in most groups of children with acquired aphasia. Lexical comprehension deficits generally have not been found to be lateralized to either left or right lesions. It has been suggested, however, that discrepancy between lexical comprehension and production may be more pronounced following left than right lesions.
