| A diagnostic test for spongiform encephalopathies. The test, which we refer to as the touch test, offers potential for rapid routine diagnosis of TSE as an adjunct or alternative to histopathology (the study of microscopic changes in diseased tissues). Although the test had not been developed specifically with BSE in mind it could ’provide a rapid means of diagnosis of BSE with very little handling and risk of exposure’. |
