Equipment that is used on the circulating system of a drilling rig to remove fine-grained well cuttings from weighted drilling fluid without excessive loss of barite and fluid. The mud cleaner uses a combination of desilting hydrocyclons and very fine mesh screens that vibrate. The underflow of the hydrocyclons flows onto the screens.
To save barite in weighted muds, and to conserve expensive fluids and/or minimise waste volumes in unweighted muds, the Brandt mud cleaner is an important part of a solids control system. Its use results in reduced abrasion, better filter cake characteristics, reduced mud viscosity and many other benefits.
