| Thus, in a rather vague way, Gesner advanced an associationist theory of aphasia, which stated that the disorder consisted of a failure to connect a perception or idea with its appropriate linguistic sign. He called the disorder SPEECH AMNESIA, as had his predecessors, but he went a step further by ascribing to what today we would call ASSOCIATIVE PROCESSES. |
