Also, in the Italian writing system, which is very transparent as far as conversion rules are concerned, almost all orthographic rules operate on the syllabic level. Therapy with this patient lasted about five months, with two sessions per week. The first stage consisted of searching for verbal codes as a relay. Since the patient had worked as a railway clerk, Italian towns or Christian names were chosen which contain in the first syllable about 30 consonant-vowel clusters to be treated, e.g., mito (myth) = MI (from Milano) plus TO (from Torino).
