Context Following the visual-semantic treatment the patient became able to spell correctly the untreated item "cartolina" (postcard). As his nonlexical writing abilities did not improve it is likely that he was able to access the whole word form "cartolina", which was unavailable before. We argue that, to do this, patient 3 used his residual knowledge about word spelling (it contains 9 letters, there is one letter "t" in the fourth position) and word meaning (it is usually sent by travellers to their friends, it needs a stamp) as self-generated visual and semantic cues.
