Dyslexia (of the agnosic type) was residual but typical: the patient generally could not understand words he could not read aloud. This deficit at the level of the visual input lexicon prevented him from judging as true or false his own writing productions. His writing impairment was severe and significantly influenced by spelling regularity. In fact, phonological plausibility was respected in 93% of the errors in written word production.
