The results show that only the presentation of the initials had an effect of facilitation on the retrieval of the celebrities´ names. A study by Maylor (1990) confirms that semantic facilitation has no effect on the retrieval of a target word in a state of TOT. The author used the method of naming after verbal definition. However, another word was presented simultaneously with the verbal definition. This word was either semantically related, phonologically related, or bore no relation whatsoever to the target word. As in the aforementioned studies, subjects were requested to write the target word.
