A state characterized by actual or relative decrease of alkali in bodily fluids in proportion to the content of acid. Depending on the degree of compensation for the acidosis, the pH of bodily fluids may be normal or decreased. Tissue function is often disturbed in this state, most importantly that of the central nervous system, if compensation is adequate Acidosis: (noun) : a condition of decreased alkalinity of the blood and tissues marked by sickly sweet breath, headache, nausea and vomiting, and visual disturbances and usually a result of excessive acid production
