The typical deep Vee-hull utilizes two flat surfaces on a variation of angles known as deadrise. The higher the degree of deadrise, the sharper the angles of the Vee of the bottom of the boat. Usually lifting strakes are added to the bottom of a deep V-hull. Lifting strakes provide “lift” to raise the vessel from the surface of the water when it is being operated at high speeds. The lifting strakes add to the overall speed of the vessel by reducing drag.
