This type of hull fits nearly between the displacement and planing hull types. Its stern is low and designed to be always below the water. The hull can have a round bilge form, but it is generally of the “Hard chine” type. These hulls have less fullness than a full displacement hull. Semi-displacement hulls can be driven harder, but at the expense of greater fuel consumption, and the stern will tend to dig in at higher speeds.
This boat is a semi-displacement hull powered by twin 2285-hp engines with a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising one of 18 (at which, by the way, she also had a 1,200-mile range).
