Carbon Dioxide is a class B, C agent only, to be used to extinguish fires caused by flammable liquids such as gasoline (class B) and for electrical fires (C). Because of the CO2 high pressure, the carbon dioxide fire extinguisher is not recommended for use on Class A (amber and ash based fires), because of the hazard of spreading the fire when blasting it with the high pressure gas.
