The component which guides the intake air to the cylinder head inlet ports; usually an aluminium casting or a GRP moulding, with one inlet opening and as many outlets as there are cylinders in the engine.
While the engine is running, the induction strokes create pressure pulses which are transmitted back to the intake manifold and air tunnel in the form of pressure wave oscillations.
