A protein used to stimulate the production of granulocytes in the bone marrow. It is given to donors who have agreed to donate peripheral blood stem cells. This moves blood stem cells from the marrow into the blood stream so that they can be collected by apheresis. It is also given to patients to help increase their white blood cell count after the transplant. It is often given during or after chemotherapy to boost the immune system.
