A syndrome resulting from cytotoxic therapy, occurring generally in aggressive, rapidly proliferating lymphoproliferative disorders. It is characterised by combinations of hyperuricaemia, lactic acidosis, hyperkalaemia, hyperphosphatemia and hypocalcaemia.
The dosage of prednisone was increased steadily to 60 mg/m2 daily in accordance with leukemic cell mass, renal, and metabolic variables to circumvent complications of acute tumor lysis syndrome .
