Length 50-130mm. Colour green, brown or gray, usually with conspicuous round or oval black spots. Dorsolateral folds prominent and unbroken, usually lighter color.
Tadpoles of species which have sympatric ranges but segregate spatially in different habitats turned out to be competitive equals, as with wood and leopard frogs in North America.
