noun

Definition |
liquid or solid element used in gear units to reduce the coefficient of friction between the elements that slide in relation to another. Lubricants facilitate heat exchanges within the equipment by carrying the heat produced by the friction whereas the dissipation of such forms of energy is easier and more frequent. Lubricants also ensure that gaskets, which have an opening to the outside, are protected (between the rotating and fixed elements) against the entry of powders and other corrosives.
