| Clearance is defined as the amount of solute removed (through a filter) from the blood per unit of time, divided by the incoming blood concentration *Clearance*. The solute transport characteristics of a dialyser may be expressed as clearance. This is a clinically meaningful measure since it describes the dialyser as a part of the patient´s circulatory system Clearance: Removal of a substance from the blood, e.g. by the kidney, expressed in terms of the millimetres of blood that would contain the amount of substance removed |
